Making Balinese Sambal Matah

Sambal matah is a sambal made from slices of chili and onion, creating a distinctive aroma. Of course, also with a mixture of lime that adds flavor and aroma. There are many variations of chili sauce that can be made easily at home.

Here are the Recipes and How to Make Bali Sambal Matah.

  • 3 tablespoons of vegetable oil
  • 1 tsp shrimp paste
  • 4 onions, thinly sliced
  • 2 cloves of garlic, thinly sliced
  • 5 red chili, finely sliced
  • 2 sheets of kaffir lime leaves, finely sliced
  • 1 lemongrass stems, take the white part, finely sliced
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt1 grapefruit, take the water

The steps: 
  1. Heat oil, then fry shrimp paste until fragrant. Lift it to warm.
  2. Then, add onion, garlic, cayenne pepper, and, lemongrass. Stir until fragrant.
  3. Then add salt and add lime juice, stir well.Sambal Bali is ready to be served.
